‘Mother India’ Nargis, the first recipient of the National Film Award for Best Actress in 1968 was also the first patron of the Spastic Society of India. She is most remembered for her role in Mother India, and was rumoured to have been in a love affair with Raj Kapoor, with whom she had acted in several films.
